Shoal Bay Waste Disposal Site Access Tags

All Darwin City Council residents are provided with free access to the Shoal Bay Waste Disposal Site via their Access Tag. Access tags are electronic access keys introduced by Council in July 2007. The tags are linked to a residential property and only one tag is allocated per property (Tags are $15.00 and additional tags can be purchased for $45).
Please Note: Access tags are strictly for domestic use only and will be cancelled if any person is utilising the tag for commercial reasons.
Lost Tags
If a tag is lost or stolen residents will be issued with a replacement tag at a cost of $15.00. The old tag number will be deleted from the system. Replacement tags can be issued at the Darwin City Council Civic Centre Office or the Shoal Bay Waste Disposal Site Weighbridge Office. Proof of residency or ownership of a property is required. Renters are advised to contact their landlord/real estate agent to arrange a tag.
Palmerston and Litchfield Domestic Households
Householders who do not live in the Darwin City Council municipality can purchase a Shoal Bay Access Tag for the annual price of $45.00. Tags can be purchased from the Darwin City Council Civic Centre or the Shoal Bay Waste Disposal Site.
After 12 months, householders can “recharge” the access tag through payment of the annual fee. If the annual fee is not received by the due date the computer system will not allow further access to the landfill with the expired tag.
What if a resident forgets to bring their Access Tag to the Landfill?
If you forget your Access Tag at the Shoal Bay Waste Disposal Site, proof of address in the Darwin City Council municipality is required, or a fee of $11.50 per load may be charged.
