About Libraries

Darwin is home to the Northern Territory's largest public library service - the four libraries, Casuarina, Nightcliff, City and Karama, are provided by the City Council with assistance from the Northern Territory Government. The libraries have 37,000 registered members who borrow over 537,000 items each year from a total stock of 128,000.

Darwin City Council Libraries are committed to delivering a dynamic, different and diverse public library service, which promotes and supports the recreational and lifelong learning needs of our community.

Meeting Rooms

Casuarina and City Libraries have meeting rooms available for general hire by the public, organisations and groups.  Both meeting rooms have wheelchair access and are air-conditioned. 

• Casuarina Library’s meeting room seats 40 and is available 7 days a week including outside library opening hours.  Enquiries and bookings to the Library Secretary on 8930 0211. 
• City Library’s meeting room seats 10 and is available during library opening hours only.  Enquiries and bookings to the Administration Officer on 8930 0237.

Exhibitions & Displays

Exhibitions are hosted by the libraries from time to time and vary in content.  Displays from community groups are encouraged – please contact library staff to book your space.
