Playgrounds, parks and skate parks

FREEPS (Free Recreation and

Entertainment for Everyone In The ParkS)

Freeps provides free family entertainment during the dry season. Freeps is usually conducted on a Sunday between 3:00pm and 6:00pm, and venues are advertised in the local paper and on television a week or so prior to the event.

Tennis Courts
Public tennis courts are situated in Ross Smith Avenue, Parap; Aralia Street, Nightcliff and Chrisp Street, Rapid Creek. The courts a re available for daytime use only.
They may be used free of charge and bookings for their use are not required.

Variety Liberty Swing

The Variety Liberty Swing is located adjacent to a large inclusive playground in the Water Gardens, Freshwater Road, Jingili. Its supply and installation was a joint initiative of Variety NT and Darwin City Council. The Swing is designed for use by people of all ages and has room for a wheelchair to be strapped into it as well as a pop-up internal seat with a seat belt attached.
For safety reasons the Swing is locked when not in use. Keys to access the Swing are available free of charge. If you are interested in obtaining a key to access the swing please complete the application form below and return it to Council via fax to (08) 8930 0644, email to n.mccann@darwin.nt.gov.au, by mail to GPO Box 84, Darwin, NT, 0801 or in person to Customer Services section, Civic Centre, Harry Chan Avenue, Darwin.

Application form

Sports Ovals
Sporting grounds and ovals are available for sporting organisations or private groups on a seasonal or casual basis. For further information and bookings PH: 8930 0622.

Watergardens skate park
Officially opened in July 1999, the Skatepark was built in consultation with the skating community to provide Darwin's young people with a much needed local skating facility. Situated in Trower Road, Jingili, the Skate Park is open during the day time. Use of the area is free of charge. It is well suited to those learning.
