Federation Frontline
It is important, that this story be told in a popular way. We Territorians believe present and future generations will develop a sense of pride about an event that significantly shaped the Australia of today, when they know about it. So far, so few do.
Young Australians should have the opportunity to know of the bravery of those who were here then, and of those who defended our shores during the nation's darkest hour. We hope that each year as the sirens sound over Darwin at 9.58 am (CST) on 19 February, Australians wherever you are, will join us in a moment of silence.
For present and future generations of Australians we leave the Federation Frontline Legacy, superbly researched and written by Peter and Sheila Forrest. It includes:
- An educational package for every Australian secondary school
- A radio series hosted by Jack Thompson
- The book - Federation Frontline: A people's history of World War II in the Northern Territory (on sale at every post office in Australia)
- Our official souvenir –– a 32 page magazine, and
- This wonderful website.
