Emergency kit

A well-equipped emergency kit could well be the difference between survival or loss of life in a cyclone, and all Darwin residents should have one ready well before October each year when the cyclone season is imminent. Kits should contain a portable radio, torch and spare batteries, fresh water and canned food, matches, a fuel lamp, portable stove, cooking utensils, can opener, waterproof bags and a first aid kit and manual and masking tape for windows. You should also keep a list of emergency phone numbers handy in case you need to call for help.
