Cyclone emergency plan

Every Darwin household should have its own cyclone emergency plan. You cannot stop a cyclone but being properly prepared well ahead of time will help save lives.

Your preparations for the cyclone season (From October to April) should include checking your home's structural security, trimming tree branches well clear of buildings, removing loose building materials, outdoor furniture and other items that could become dangerous missiles in high winds and, if you live in a storm surge zone, knowing your nearest safe high ground and the best way to get to it if you need to.
