Council Directorates

Darwin City Council provides a wide range of services for residents and visitors. These include parks, reserves and recreational facilities, libraries, sponsorship of child care centres, road making and maintenance, waste disposal, recycling facilities, garbage collection, litter control, street lighting and car parking.

The Technical Services Directorate is responsible for asset management, contract supervision, design services, strategic projects, car parking (planning and operations), cemeteries, stormwater drainage, environmental management, parks and reserves, roads, footpaths and cycleways, building maintenance, fleet services, signs control, town planning input, traffic management, waste management, construction.

The Corporate Services Directorate oversees city centre management, corporate administration, economic development, financial services, human resources management, management information systems, customer service, property services, records management, risk management, tourism, internal audit, contract management.

The Community Services Directorate is responsible for Acts and bylaws, animal management, arts and culture, community planning, community support services, parking control, public libraries, recreation, sister cities, youth programs, disability programs, Indigenous programs and community safety.

Executive Services is responsible for corporate planning, elected members support, general management, protocol, public relations, special projects, special events.
