Graffiti Management Plan
Graffiti Fact Sheet
In mid 2008, Council consulted with the community regarding the increasing problem of graffiti vandalism occurring across the municipality. A problem not unique to Darwin, Council has joined forces with the City of Palmerston and the Northern Territory Police to provide a coordinated approach across the Top End.

Both Palmerston and Darwin City Council will be providing graffiti removal resources (conditions apply) to residents on request should they become victims of graffiti vandalism. Residents needing resources are welcome to visit the Customer Services Counters at either Palmerston City Council or Darwin City Council. Business owners or residents will need to have first reported the incident to Police and will be required to quote a Police Report Reference number to obtain resources. Proof of property ownership or occupancy will also be required.
Residents of Darwin municipality can contact Customer Services on 89300556 for an application form.
Residents are also encouraged to bring along a photograph of the graffiti so that Council can provide the information to the NT Police for inclusion in the Graffiti Database.
Resources
Council will provide either a paint voucher to the value of $50 or a removal kit (limited stocks) for self graffiti removal to residents and businesses. One resource only per property is provided.
Additional resources are the responsibility of individual property owners. Subsequent kits will be available for purchase at cost from Darwin City Council however, residents are encouraged to purchase repeat supplies direct from paint and hardware outlets should they be required.
Residents should also note that when considering pursuing an insurance claim for graffiti occurring on private property, a police report must first be obtained.
